THE SOUTH WEST SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL HITS THE COUNTRY

Cape Coastal Cinemas, are now in their 2nd year of showing films in the South West throughout the summer period.

"It all started because I remember growing up as a grommet on the northern beaches in Sydney and having the opportunity to see surf films on the big screen at the Opera House, my friends and I used to get so stoked. We realise Yallingup Hall doesn't quite compare to the Opera House, but as a coastal surfing community, we can still try and get everyone stoked on the sport we love!" said organiser Damien 'Taco' Warr.

After showing the films last summer in Dunsborough, Yallingup and Gracetown with arthouse and action sports films, Warr is now focusing this summers line up as all surf along with a few skate films.

Last years response for all of the action sports films was enormous with this year the film festival focusing more on these styles of films. It's great for the kids and the big ones too, with a few 70's classics thrown in.

Companies have supported the nights with prizes and give aways on some of the evenings and this year the Margaret River Cultural Centre has been incorporated into the venues.

"The Quiksilver Australian Surf Movie Festival" will also be screened during the Film Festival and while it has been up and running for 3 years on the east coast in coastal towns from QLD to VIC, this years screenings in the South West will be a first.

It is hoped that these nights will give the grommets or families a different option for something to do at night over the school holidays.

You can bring along your own cool drinks, food and even bean bags etc for that comfy lounge feeling.

By doing it this way the cost of the movies have been kept affordable. Adults are $10 and Kids up to 15 years old are $6 and the tickets are available on the door from 8pm (except MR which is 7.30)
