HIGH SURF WARNING ADVICE ISSUED: Monday 14/07/08.....06.55am Period of commencement FRIDAY 18/07/08 A strong, fast moving cold front will hit the SW corner of the state on Friday morning (and I do mean hit). Large swell associated with high morning tides and gale to storm force winds will see moderate to severe beach erosion along the coastline. Swell will increase to very large by the afternoon. Large seas, surf and strong winds will provide unsafe surf conditions for Friday on the open ocean breaks. Funny thing is, this system will be sitting higher than usual FRIDAY Perth & Mandurah Wind direction: Gale to storm force winds from the NW direction in the morning swinging strong to gale force W/SW to SW by the afternoon Swell direction: W to W/SW. Period: 14 to 15 seconds. Waves: 4.5 metres combined sea & swell on the open ocean in the morning reaching 7 metres combined sea & swell by 3pm in the afternoon. Head high plus on the open ocean breaks in the morning. Unsafe surfing conditions . Margaret River Winds: Gale to storm force winds from the NW direction in the morning swinging strong to gale force W/SW to SW by the afternoon.. Swell direction: W/SW. Period: 14 to 15 seconds. Waves: 4.5 metres combined sea & swell on the open ocean reaching 7.5 metres combined sea & swell by 3 pm. Ten to twelve feet with fifteen foot foam balls with eighteen to twenty foot sets at Mainbreak by the afternoon. Unsafe surfing conditions .
