HIGH SURF WARNING
ADVICE 1 ISSUED: Thursday 29/09/05.....9.00pm Period of commencement:Friday 29/09/05 A deep low associated with a heavy swell will start developing to the southwest by midday Friday and will cause gale to storm force winds as a front crosses. Swell heights combined with winds will cause erosion on open ocean beaches. Swell and wind will continue into Saturday before rapidly abating for Sunday. Friday 30/09/05 afternoon/evening PERTH METRO BEACHES Wind Direction: NW winds 30/40 knots with squalls to 55 knots . Swell mean time period: 15 - 16 seconds. Surf size (waves): 6 to 8 feet faces on the beach breaks by the evening. Unsafe surf conditions on the open ocean breaks. SOUTH WEST BEACHES (Margaret River Region) Wind Direction: NW to W/NW winds 30/40 knots with squalls to 55 knots. Swell mean time period: 16 seconds. Surf size (waves): 15 to 18 feet building to 20 feet by late evening. Unsafe surf conditions on the open ocean breaks. Saturday 01/10/05 PERTH METRO BEACHES Wind Direction: W/NW winds 25/35 knots with squalls knots. Swell mean time period: 14 -15 seconds. Surf size (waves): 6 to 8 feet faces on the beach breaks possibly larger. Unsafe surf conditions on the open ocean breaks. SOUTH WEST BEACHES (Margaret River Region) Wind Direction: W'ly winds 30/40 knots with squalls to 50 knots. Swell mean time period: 12 - 14 seconds. Surf size (waves): 15 to 18 feet with 20 to 25 foot sets for peak period at Margaret River abating. Unsafe surf conditions on the open ocean breaks. Sunday 07/09/05 PERTH METRO BEACHES Wind Direction: W winds 20/25 knots. Swell mean time period: 13 to 14 seconds. Surf size (waves): 5 to 7 foot faces on the beach breaks in the morning easing rapidly. Unsafe surf conditions on the open ocean breaks for the inexperienced. SOUTH WEST BEACHES (Margaret River Region) Wind Direction: W winds 20/25 knots. Swell mean time period: 13 - 14 seconds. Surf size (waves): 10 to 12 feet with 15 foot sneakers at Margaret River.
